In his recent Facebook post , Boris Baum , First Deputy Chairman of the Advisory and Expert Council of the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries of Ukraine ( KRAIL ) , once again focused on the ongoing attacks on the legal gambling business in the country.
Earlier such attacks were announced by the Ukrainian Gambling Council ( UGC ) .
“Obviously, they are hitting the reform as a whole. Enemies of legalization want to stop this reform and restore the corruption feeders, as it was before.
Obviously, when you are legalizing gambling in any country in the world and when you are trying to turn black into white, few people will be satisfied and few will be happy with the transformation of the country. Everyone is attacking legal business because it does not pay corrupt officials, but replenishes the state budget,” he writes.
Attacks, in particular, come from some of the media and public organizations, to which Baum turned. He suggested that in case of possession of facts regarding someone's illegal activities, contact the responsible state bodies, as well as check the information received.
“For a sane person, this is simply inadequate when the body that replenishes the country's budget falls under a custom-made wave of negativity. It is inadequate when I, as a person who fights against the black market, is criticized for this. It is inappropriate when legal organizers of gambling are being slandered for helping the country, the army and the people.”
Baum suggested that in this way someone wants to get preferences in the market and return to the era of imitation gambling - a time of incomprehensible licensing conditions and schemes.
“The legalization of gambling is one of the successful reforms. Since we, all those involved in it, are criticized for this by ill-wishers, it means that we are doing something positive for the country. And we will continue to do so.
Ukraine will win, the white market will win, and the buyers of the blackmail have once again shown that the interests of the state are not important to them - they are only concerned with their own commercial and illegal interests,” he concluded.
