On June 28, the Swiss Federal Court upheld the ban on foreign gambling operators in the country's gaming market.
Since 2019, all foreign domain names of gaming companies have been blocked in Switzerland: this limits their access to the local market.
And on Tuesday, the court decided that such a measure is absolutely proportional to the requirements of the market situation.
Thus, Swiss players can still bet online exclusively on Swiss gaming sites that pay taxes in the country and professionally protect people from addiction.
The federal court rulings did not name the operators involved.
However, it is known for sure that last year the Maltese companies Interwetten International, Videoslots, Lopoca Gaming and the German company bet-at-home Entertainment appealed to the Swiss Federal Gambling Council - only on the issue of blocking foreign gaming sites.
