On September 15-16, a conference was organized by Gambling Association on the topic of “Increasing the Transparency of the Gambling Business and Improving Reporting”.
The conference was attended by the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the Financial Monitoring Service of Georgia, the Office of the Business Ombudsman of Georgia, the National Statistics Office of Georgia and the representatives of the companies employed in the field. Conference participants discussed new regulations in the gaming business sector prepared by the Working Group of the Ministry of Finance.
“The purpose of the conference is to reconcile positions between business and executive authorities regarding planned regulations,” said Zurab Beruashvili, Chairman of Georgian Gambling Association.
“It is important to know in detail the position of each player in the industry. We believe that regulations are needed, but they must be clear, rational, and optimal so that their execution is not left unfulfilled. It is also important to assess the impact of the regulation before the new regulations come into force, so that we can see more clearly the effect of these changes on the economy and business,” – said Business Ombudsman Irakli Lekvinadze.
The representatives of the National Statistics Office of Georgia focused on the methods of registration of gambling companies and the peculiarities of producing statistics and introduced the participants to the local and international practices in this field.
