Starting today, new regulations for online gambling businesses come into effect

Under the new gambling regulation model, new regulations for online gambling businesses come into effect from today.

In particular, television and outdoor advertising of gaming businesses will be prohibited, as well as advertising on Georgian websites.

Gaming business operators will only be allowed to sign a sponsorship agreement.

In addition, from today, citizens under 25 years of age, socially vulnerable persons receiving state benefits, civil servants, persons who apply to the revenue service of the Ministry of Finance with a request to use the self-limitation mechanism, as well as those who fall into the so-called On the "black list" based on a court decision or at the request of family members.

In addition, from today, the control mechanisms are being tightened.

Reminder: according to the new gambling regulation model, the tax base for online providers has been expanded since January 1.

Since January, the distributed profit tax system has been changed to a 10% GGR tax rate; While online gambling firms have previously paid a profit tax of the same rate and structure as other sectors, the new model will tax 10% of the difference between the amount they receive as bets and the winnings given out (GGR), which they will pay into the budget.
